Violin Lessons in the heart of Shawlands.
Call Rosamund on: 07894 908673 for more information.
About Me:
I am a professional violinist and violin teacher living in the heart of Shawlands in the Southside of Glasgow. I studied in London, Lyon (France) and Glasgow (Royal Scottish Conservatoire) and have a BA (Hons) and a CPGS Solo Performance, Violin. I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic person who is passionate about the education and enjoyment of music at all levels.
Experience:
I have been teaching the violin for over twenty years both privately and within the school system. I also teach violin and musicianship for Mull Music Makers, bringing music and violin teaching to children to whom it is not easily available. I have taught and continue to teach students of all ages and abilities, from very little children, concentrating on musical games, singing and an introduction to the violin or piano and teenagers preparing for national 5, Highers and Advanced Highers or ABRSM grade 5 theory, to busy, working people wanting to take up a new chllenge and older people starting a new hobby in retirement. I have taught many students for the ABRSM graded exams 1-8 and all of my students have achieved very good passes with many distinctions and merits along the way. I have coached students for orchestral auditions as well as for concerto performances and solo recitals.
Teaching Approach:
I believe passionately in the power of music and music education and that there is no one music cannot benefit.
I teach every student according to individual need, level, aim and personality. I believe in helping people to be the best that they can possibly be.
I use different teaching materials based on the age, level and preference of the individual, concentrating on a solid technical foundation and the development of uninhibited musical expression. I am particularly experienced in helping students overcome many different pre-existing problems, from technique, posture, set-up and tension issues to lack of confidence and performance nerves. I help pupils learn to practise efficiently and effectively so they can make the most of their time away from the lesson. Above all I aim to make lessons enjoyable and to develop a life-long love of music.
Lessons:
I offer lessons in my home overlooking Queen's Park of either 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the level, age and preference of the pupil. For very young children or in particular cases I also give 30 minute lessons.
I teach during the day, after school and at weekends.
Please contact me on the number below or on the contacts page to discuss availabilty.
I also teach music theory for the grade 5 theory needed to progress to ABRSM grades 6-8 on the violin.

£30 - 60 minute lesson
